UL works in text widget but not PHP Code widget – why

    Hi folks,

    I’m VERY new to WP having always manually coded sides before. I’ve volunteered to help out on a charity web site which runs on WP. I’ve set up a new empty site (with Twentytwelve as the theme) and I’m having a play but getting stuck on the most basic of things.

    I’ve written a PH routine to generate a service diary as a UL. If I embed it in a page content using “Allow PHP in posts” and it works fine.

    I then put it into a “PHP Code” text widget and the UL doesn’t appear as expected. If I put similar code into a standard Text widget it looks fine.

    Any ideas what I’m missing?
