Did some testing. WordPress ver 4.5 update, tested Folder Gallery on two sites that have been updated to WordPress 4.5, Folder Gallery plugin is broken on both.

Behavior: Folder Gallery creates cache folders but doesn’t write files to them.

    Used to work well.

Can anyone suggest a substitute plugin!? I had a big part of my site based on this plugin.

    Frustrated.

Sorry FG hasn’t been tested with WP 4.5. I’ll try to fix it on tuesday.

Would appreciate that, but I know you’re doing this without pay so we do understand how it goes even though we do get frustrated trying to keep websites running with the problematic WordPress plugin environment. Do you have a donate button somewhere?

FYI, your plugin worked great before WP 4.5. Now with WordPress 4.5 it creates the cache folders on our server but will not write to them, even though they are set to 777. I tried it on two different websites.

Also, do you know of any other plugins that simply make a gallery from a folder filled with images, that automatically updates? I couldn’t find anything but yours.

We are using this to display a folder that has still images updated automatically from a security camera. We need it to be simple and reliable, and not require a user to fiddle around creating a gallery as with the other hundreds of “Gallery” plugins.

    Thanks, MTN

    MTN,

I’ve upgrade two sites to WP 4.5, one local with FG 1.8a7 and one distant with FG 1.7.2 and both works as expected. Tell me which are your settings (thumbnails sizes, etc). But, maybe, the problem is on your side.

If I’ve developed this plugin, it’s because I couldn’t find any other plugin that did the same !

Wow! That’s disappointing. I spent quite some hours already testing and the only thing I could narrow it down to was the 4.5 upgrade.

I would be happy to contact you in private for trouble shooting.

To review: The plugin creates the cache folders, but will not write to them. It even displays blank placeholders on the web page for the missing images! If I can contact you in private I’ll share what is needed to trouble shoot. Thanks, MTN

Here is what’s on the page:

<!— following displays one larger image of current shot as well as thumbnail gallery —>

    [foldergallery folder=”*****.org/*****578/*****cam2/” title=”” show_thumbnail_captions=true caption=smartfilename]

    [foldergallery folder=”*****.org/*****592/*****cam/” title=”” show_thumbnail_captions=true caption=smartfilename]

    [foldergallery folder=”*****.org/*****592/*****cam/” title=”” columns=4 width=130 height=80 border=0 padding=2 margin=4 thumbnails=600]

It may be related to image size and php settings (memory). I will look into it. In the meantime, could you test with smaller pictures ?
