You’ve visited this page 2 times. Last visit: 18/08/15Can anyone help me?
Today I wrote a post for my website (above). I published the post and then went into Google Webmaster Tools and cached the post to get it indexed quickly. It is the first one above.
About half an hour later I noticed that I had mis-spelt the title of my post as it read: –
Going To University? – Your Likely To Need A Student
Bank AccountIt should have read: –
Going to University? – YOU ARE Likley To Need A Student Bank Account
So, I changed my page title in WordPress and the permalink and then clicked UPDATE to republish it and then went into Google Webmaster Tools and cached the amended post using the amended permalink title.
Sometime later I checked to see if the post was now indexed showing the amended permalink but it was still showing the original incorrect permalink followed by the corrected one. I then went into cache the incorrect one again and it said it was REDIRECTING and I also cached the correctly set up permalink one.
However, as you can see from the above when I do a search in Google using some of the text from the post the post is still appearing twice showing both the incorrect and correct permalinks.
Should I be concerned that Google may think that I am tying to create duplicate content in some way as they are showing the post twice and penalise me?
Would it be safer for me just to delete the post in wordpress and then when Google see that it is not their and remove it from the web republish it?
How can I resolve the matter so that the post with the correct permalink is the only one appearing or do I have to just wait until Google revisit the post with the incorrect permalink and delete it so that only the post with the correct permalink shows?
Apologies for the length of this enquiry
Thank you in advance for your help.
