Two client paths to purchase?
-
My potential client is unhappy at the moment because the product sales path and the artist sales path are not configured as he wants on his website. He sells items made by local crafts people.
If the customer currently wants to buy a mug made by one of the featured artists this is what happens.
The product sale path goes like this:- item (e.g.mug) -> page with mugs on -> mug of the customer’s choosing -> payment process. He’s happy with that.
The artist path should go like this:- artist -> page with artists’ products on -> page with products the client is interested in from that artist (e.g mugs made by that artist) -> individual mug of the customer’s choosing -> checkout process.
The problem is that the 3rd click on the artist path is taking the customer to a page with all mugs from all artists on, exactly the same page as the second click from the product sale path takes them to, so that the path to a purchase for that artist is spoiled by having a page of mugs from other artists put into the middle of the sales journey.
The journey actually goes like this:- artist -> page with artists’ products on -> page with all mugs on (when the customer clicks on the illustrative mug on the artists’ page) -> mug of the customers’ choosing (when the customer can find it amongst all the other mugs that suddenly pop up on the page) -> check out process.
Can I categorise the products in Woocommerce so that two different sales journeys remain separate at all times or, at some point does the mug have to be put into the mug category, along with all the other mugs?
Of course the mug issue is relevant to all items sold where the item is in the same category as items sold by other artists on the site; scarves, magnets or towels for example.
The prospective client is unhappy with the current build progress of his site as I suspect his current developers are stuck with this problem too so they have ground to a halt.
He has asked me for advice but the structuring he requires is beyond anything I have ever done before. Is it even possible? The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]
