    Twitter creator outputs <meta name=”twitter:creator” content=”@https://twitter.com/***” />

It adds a setup section where you could change from https://twitter.com/username to @username but won’t save unless I change from the original wordpress settings which I don’t want to as theme uses that. It use to work perfectly fine until 4.3 update, I believe I’m not the only one seeing this.

  • @blissyung So as of the 14.3 release of the plugin, is the setting you are unable to update the ‘Twitter Username’ value that is located under SEO>Social>Accounts?

If not, would you be able to provide a screenshot of where the issue is occurring?

@devnihil No, it’s value under USER>Profile >Twitter username (without @) (Changes won’t save) instead it uses “Social Networks” under USER>Profile which I don’t want to change

    Hello,

We’re not sure of the issue you are encountering. Is this related to the Yoast SEO for WordPress v14.3 plugin? Could you please send us more screenshots from the Users section that illustrates the issue? We could not find a ‘social networks’ section in the default WordPress profile section.

We entered a sample username under the Users > Profile > Twitter username (without @) and it showed the correct twitter:creator tag = @username as per the Twitter output here.

Hard to explain kindly take a look at the pictures

This is my profile settings: Image 1

This settings was added to user profile after installing Yoast: Image 2

    Source code: Output image

I’m not able to update second image unless I change from the first image and that breaks theme twitter links.

    Was working perfectly before 14.3

Just thought you should know, checked a few colleagues sites and output was @http://twitter.com/username they haven’t even noticed it yet.

@blissyung Thanks for your reply and for providing the screenshots.

As for the issue, can you please try the following to see if it resolves the issue?:

Under SEO>Social>Accounts for ‘Twitter Username‘ if your username is @username ONLY enter ‘username‘ (without the quotes).

Under Users>Profile>Twitter username (without the @) if your username is @username ONLY enter ‘username‘ (without the quotes and without using ‘https://twitter.com&#8217;)

    Does this resolve the problem?

Thanks for the reply. It seems you still didn’t get my message.

When I put “username” at Users>Profile>Twitter username (without the @) it wont save, it instead picks settings under User>Profiles>> “SOCIAL NETWORKS” where I put the full URL changing that from URL to “Username” will break admin twitter links.

    Hi @blissyung,

We are a little confused here.

Under Users → Your profile, there is no default “Social Networks” heading. Under “Contact Info”, WordPress core does have fields to configure your social networks including a Twitter field. In this field, you should also only use your username without a full URL or @ sign.

These field values can then be used by themes or plugins. They are independent of the Yoast SEO setting under SEO → Social.

If you have other fields that need a full URL in your profile, then they are coming from a plugin or your theme, but not from Yoast SEO. The meta tag that Yoast SEO outputs for the twitter:creator, is coming from SEO → Social and not from your User profile.

Can you share a link with us where you see the meta tag so we can check too?

    Thanks.
