Tutor LMS Quiz Bug – 10 Questions Showing as 11 in Quiz Result

    Hello Tutor LMS Support Team,

    I am experiencing an issue with the Tutor LMS Quiz system.

    I have created a quiz containing exactly 10 questions. The Tutor LMS Quiz Builder also confirms that there are only 10 questions in the question pool:

    • Total questions in pool: 10
    • Available to answer: 10
    • Maximum questions per quiz: 10
    • Question order: Random
    • Time limit: 15 minutes

    However, after a student submits the quiz, the Quiz Summary/Review page incorrectly displays 11 questions.

    There is also an incorrect calculation in the result summary. For example, the result shows:

    • 2 correct
    • 9 incorrect
    • 10 total

    This is mathematically inconsistent because 2 correct + 9 incorrect = 11 answers.

    Additionally, the Quiz Summary sidebar displays questions numbered 1 through 11, even though the quiz contains only 10 questions.

    I have attached screenshots showing:

    1. The Quiz Summary where Question #11 appears.
    2. The Quiz Builder/Quiz Settings confirming that there are exactly 10 questions.

    Could you please investigate this issue and let me know why Tutor LMS is generating/displaying an additional question in the quiz attempt result?

    Please also let me know if this is a known bug and whether there is a recommended fix, update, or database cleanup required.

    Thank you for providing the screenshots and the detailed information.

    I checked the screenshot you shared, and it clearly shows 11 separate questions listed in the Quiz Summary, and all 11 questions appear to have been attempted.

    Could you please confirm whether the quiz contains 10 or 11 questions in the Quiz Builder?

    Also, please share a screenshot of the Quiz Builder → Question List showing all the questions added to the quiz. This will help us compare the quiz configuration with the frontend result and determine whether there is any discrepancy.

    Once we have this information, we’ll be happy to assist you further.

    I can confirm that the quiz contains exactly 10 questions in the Quiz Builder, not 11.

    The Quiz Builder clearly shows:

    • Total questions in pool: 10
    • Available to answer: 10
    • Maximum questions per quiz: 10

    The 10 questions in the quiz are:

    1. The cardiovascular system is also known as the:
    2. The primary function of the cardiovascular system is to:
    3. Which of the following is NOT a component of the cardiovascular system?
    4. The cardiovascular system helps maintain:
    5. Which substance is transported by the cardiovascular system?
    6. The cardiovascular system removes:
    7. Blood circulates throughout the body through:
    8. The cardiovascular system ensures that:
    9. The cardiovascular system consists of:
    10. Which organ serves as the pump of the circulatory system?

    I have attached a screenshot of the Quiz Builder → Question List/Quiz Settings showing that there are exactly 10 questions in the quiz.

    However, on the frontend Quiz Summary after submission, Tutor LMS displays 11 separate questions (1–11).

    The result summary also shows:

    • 2 correct
    • 9 incorrect
    • 10 total

    This is another indication of the discrepancy because 2 correct + 9 incorrect = 11 answers, while the quiz actually contains only 10 questions.

    Could you please investigate why Tutor LMS is adding/displaying an extra question in the quiz attempt/result even though the Quiz Builder contains exactly 10 questions?

    I have attached the Quiz Builder screenshot for comparison with the Quiz Summary screenshot.

    Hello @waqarnasir ,

    Thank you for the detailed information. To help us understand the issue better, could you please try the following?

    1. Test with another student account
      Please create a new test student account and take the same quiz. Check whether the result also shows 11 questions or correctly shows 10 questions. This will help us determine whether the issue is related to one student’s attempt or affects all students.
    2. Share the Quiz Settings screenshot
      Please share a screenshot of the complete Quiz Settings page, including options such as Time Limit, Attempts Allowed, Passing Grade, Question Layout, Randomize Questions, etc. so that we can reproduce the issue on our end.
    3. Check for a plugin conflict
      If possible, please test this by temporarily deactivating the other plugins and keeping only Tutor LMS/Tutor LMS Pro active. Then take the quiz again and check whether the 11th question still appears.
    4. Check for a theme conflict
      On the staging site, please temporarily switch to a default WordPress theme, and test the quiz again.

    Once you share the results, we can narrow down whether the issue is related to the student’s attempt data, the quiz configuration, or a plugin/theme conflict and assist you further.
