Tube style site, what plugins?

Ok so I’ve been thinking of setting up a video tube style site. I’ve not used WordPress before but really want to use it for this because of its popularity, support and high customization its meant to provide.

I’ve used drupal before but I’m new to WordPress so I’m not sure of different plugins that are available and what’s possible.

This video tube site I want to create, it will either take videos from other site and automatically upload them to my site, or just automatically embed them in my site (probably easier on hosting and things). As well as let users upload videos themselves, comment, rate and such.

The important part is the automatic embed of videos. So if a video gets uploaded to another site if will just appear on my site automatically, on its own page with the video title, thumbnail and description and things.

Is this possible?

What plugins can do this or could be adapted to do it?
