I would like to display google ads on my header in the same way the Security Guard Training website does: http://www.securityguardtraininghq.com/

Here is the link to my website: http://www.smartpresentationskills.com/

I have read several posts related to this, but can’t work out how to add a sidebar widget to the header (I think that is what I need to do here).

I would appreciate any help and hope I have not asked a question that has been covered before.

You might want to start by following these steps. http://codex.wordpress.org/Widgetizing_Themes

You need to first register the widget and then you’ll want to display it in your header.php file. You may also need to style it in your css file, at the bottom of this article there are some tips to get started as well. Hope this helps.

This is a 2 step process. You will first need to register a new sidebar with WordPress, then place the code to display the sidebar in your theme.

To register your sidebar, follow this documentation and be sure to look at the example: Register a Sidebar You will place the code for this in your themes function.php.

To display your sidebar, you will need to reference this code: Display a Sidebar. Again, look at the examples. Note that this code would need to be placed in your themes header.php file at the desired location.

Be sure to back your site up before making any changes.
