Trouble migrating a wordpress from WAMP server
-
Hi all, looking for some fairly urgent help with a multi-faceted issue.
I’m updating someones existing wordpress with a new theme and completely new content and images.
The old wordpress site was in dissaray (www.lavacchio.com) and the host (a small, private company) hasn’t been much help. On the old website whenever plugins or themes are updated it’s asking for FTP credentials (which i’m sure it shouldn’t) and the user has never had access to any kind of server control panel or PHPmyadmin – I’ve had to email the host and request access to this.
Anyway, I figured to save time and ensure that we had the site just as the user wanted it I created the entire site (using elegant themes’ divi theme) offline on a wamp server and when it was finished copied the root directory to the server (ftp://www.lavacchio.com) and imported the database using phpmyadmin.
At the moment I can switch between sites – the old site is still up and operational but by swapping the wp-config files over on ftp://www.lavacchio.com I can determine which of the two wordpress sites is currently online.
I’ve gone through the new site with search and replace and swapped all the localhost/mysite addresses to http://www.lavacchio.com and uploaded all the appropriate images to ftp://lavacchio.com.
Unfortunately whilst I can get the new site online with all the text content and any images that are in galleries etc several elements of divi aren’t working. None of my slider modules are showing up and many of the images (despite having been copied to the appropriate wp-upload directory are not showing up.
I know I shouldn’t ask for theme-specific support here but my question is – could my issues be due to the way in which i’ve uploaded the site? Is there anything I can do to remedy this? and last but not least; would I be better off just installing the divi theme on the old wordpress and manually rebuilding it to the new spec?
Thanks in advance
