I think you have to put a closing </p> before the blockquote and a starting <p> after it.

When I do that, it seems the code is just eaten and doesn’t take.

OK thanks. Seems Textile 1 was doing something odd.
I just visited your site, didn’t notice the blockquote problem. But did see a fatal error when I attempted to leave a comment.

OOPS thanks for the info.
I puzzled over this problem for some time before I realised that WP 1.5 creates a new paragraph when you hit Return i.e. to get
<blockquote>text to validate hit Return before the text you want to blockquote , this opens the paragraph <p> , then type the text you want to quote, highlight it and click b-quote. This will put the highlighted text between the
<blockquote></blockqoute> tags, next hit Return again this will close the paragraph </p> .
Code should now vlidate.
Hmmm,
I just installed live comment preview:
http://dev.wp-plugins.org/wiki/LiveCommentPreview
and I do not understand the blockquote thing.
I place <blockqoute> on a seperate line, insert text below and finally close the <blockquote> but the rest of the text I enter all stays withing the block! I know there must be something I am missing… 🙂
