Travel directory

Hello guys!

I’m starting my journey with wordpress and i think, like everyone i have problem with choosing the theme.

I’m looking for Travel map directory theme, my requirements are simple, on main site i would like to have a map with geotagging ability, also from the users, while on the right side i would like to have a sidebar with only photos, without the description, the description with comments and like, should pop up after click on photo, also with showing the location on map.

Unfortanetly i still can’t find the proper theme which is consistant with my requirements, only one which is similiar to my idea is Hermes:

Altough i think Hermes is slow and has bugs on demo version.
And here i have couple questions.

Is it possible to adjust this themes in way i like?

My question is also, is it possible to create site i want from the most popular ones? Like:

Can you recommend some themes similiar to Hermes?
