Hoping to get some advice about some CSS modifications I want to make.

I have set the page home page to static [page-id-2] and on this page only I want to make the content box – where the post is displayed – transparent.

I have been told I can do this by removing the #main and #footer images or colour.

I then want to add a custom image to this page only that would appear as the page background. The text would then appear on top of this image [like it was written into it]

I’ve done enough googling to know this should be possible via the [body class] and conditional CSS I just don’t have the skills and Im hoping someone could share how best to tackle it.

Site is as yet unpublished so can’t share link or images.

  • What theme are you using and do you have a child theme set up?

(BTW, it may not be possible for people to help with this kind of thing without seeing the site live.)

Using Axis theme and working on local host so have not set up a child_theme.

Was looking at making a child theme once I take the site live.

[I like to know where I’m screwing up so using the parent site helps me understand how I’m breaking it when I do]

Be aware that it’s MUCH, MUCH harder to create a child theme after you’ve made changes to the parent theme — you’ll likely have to do a manual comparison of the CSS file.

These forums only support themes from the repository on this site — and without being able to either install the theme to look at it or seeing your site live, it’s virtually impossible to help with complicated CSS questions.

You might be able to get help from a CSS specific forums such as
