• Thank you for a nice theme. I’m trying to translate it in my language but what should be the name of the translation file cause it hasn’t worked so far?… tried these: fi_FI.mo/po, arcade-fi.mo/po). Or do I have to change some other options…?

  • Translation files need to use your language code as a filename with the .po extension. Like this:

    fi_FI.po

    What might be the reason it doesn’t chage the language, though. I have saved .po and .mo files in the same place as the original .pot file (library/languages) and wp-config has the right settings. I haven’t translated everything yet, but none of those I already have, have changed. I placed the new language files in both parent theme’s and child theme’s directories.

    Ah. If you are using a child theme, you have to add the language file to a child theme directory and use the function load_child_theme_textdomain(). There is more info on this codex page:
