The name is fine. In which folder did you upload them?
First at /wp-content/plugins/ninjafirewall/languages/ninjafirewall-de_DE.mo
Second at /wp-content/languages/plugins/ninjafirewall-de_DE.mo
I am using Poedit 2.0.

Can you upload the .mo file somewhere and give me the link to it so that I can download and test it?
It is working:
1. Go to “Settings > General” and select “Deutsch (Sie)” for “Site Language”.
2. Copy your .mo to wp-content/languages/plugins/ninjafirewall-de_DE.mo
Ah, there is the problem! I do not use German Formal [Sie]. I am using just German [Du]
