    Hello,
I have translated my WordPress site to English (about 40000 chars) with Translatepress plugin a year ago.

    And I have question:
Is it normal that if I change anything in a native text (for example even changing one letter in a word) it overwrites corresponding translated string in English with my native language?

I wasn’t aware of that and stylized some text in my native language through the site (bolding, meta tags etc). Accidentally yesterday checked translated site and saw that 40% of this site is again in my native language! All paragraphs where I changed something are not in English anymore.

Don’t know why that happened and is it normal behaviour of that plugin?

    Thank you for your help!
    Paul

  • Hello Paul,

Our plugin works with individual strings. Any change in the original will invalidate the translation, as the original string is no longer found.

That’s why we offer those same strings as a possible translation if the originals are similar enough.
Currently there is no way for us to be 100% sure you’re editing the same string, so we don’t serve the similar string translation automatically.

You can try and reinsert them from the translation memory or, to speed up the process to use the API to translate the content.

    Cheers,
