Use Tools > Export in the Dashboard of the site you’re moving from and Tools > Import > WordPress in the Dashboard of the site you’re moving to.

    Hi James,
Thank you for your prompt reply.
I’m a beginner. Can you be more specific about the import? Which Plugin should I install? I saw Blogger, LiveJournal etc?

And for the Export, I need to export certain posts, e.g those up voted ones. How do I do that?

    Thanks again,
    Tiantian

For the import, just go to Tools > Import in the importing site’s Dashboard and choose the site type you’re importing from. For example, if you exported from a WordPress site, choose WordPress for the import type, or if you exported from a LiveJournal site, choose LiveJournal for the import type.

WordPress doesn’t have an up-vote system. Assuming the site you’re exporting from is WordPress, what plugin are you using to provide that?

    Hi @chocolatett

In WordPress, you can import or export posts by plugin or using the import/export tool. But you cant import or export bulk selected posts only. You can import or export selected posts that are upvoted, you have to do one-by-one import or export. You can’t import or export selected upvotes posts in bulk.

Thank you for taking the time to answer this.
We put up-vote as a category. I’m able to export> posts and chose catogories: upvote and authors, start/ end day and status.
    Now I have 2 questions
in Export: categories only shows 2 of many
in Import: I can not see feature pictures in the articles. I don’t see the pictures in media> library either.

    Thanks,

The export file itself doesn’t contain images.

Instead, as long as the exported site is online, WordPress will import any images attached to posts/pages (meaning they were uploaded when writing or editing the post/page).

So, make sure those media files are attached and ensure the exported site is online.

    Hi @chocolatett

If you want to import the media files then you need to export media. In export there is a radio button option given for exporting media just like posts and pages. Please try that.
