Total site lockout
-
I am unsure what version of WP is currently installed as unable to access my site. The last update was end of March so I assume it’s the 4.7.4
Problem: I am currently locked out of my web site and all attempts via the reset password and by my hosting provider have proved unsuccessful. I appear to be in a loop whereby the hosting provider resets the login page but the site will not let me change my password and the old password is not recognised. As a result I am triggering the site lock out after 3 failed attempts.
when I try to reset the password it keeps saying the password does not meet site strength of password but I have used all the criteria so the fault is something other than the message.
Without being able to reset the password I am completely locked out of my web site. My hosting provider is asking for the security plug in to be disabled via ftp (thru their web site) but I don’t know what the plugin name is to disable it! I can view from their web site a list of the WP files and they tell me it should be under directory WPcontent and my hosting provider is asking what security plugin I am using in order to disable it via ftp.
Any suggestions as to how to either reset the user access password or to identify the security plugin to disable it?
