Total .htaccess newbie

Hi all –

I’m having a problem with hotlinkers on my other website, and I would like to stop it, of course. The website offers graphics for people to use, so I would still like people to be able to right-click and save the images and upload them where they need them, but I don’t want them to be able to hotlink. Will setting up an .htaccess file do this? And if that is the answer, can someone point me in the direction of a very, VERY simple and thorough instruction on how to make one?
