  • I have seen this happen with older versions of FontAwesome, where both Twenty Seventeen and FontAwesome style the .icon class. Do you have any plugins installed that use FontAwesome or do you use it yourself for anything?

    That was it! I went to review my plugins and was using a Social Media Menu plug in. Right in the description I see it uses Font Awesome. I deactivated and the menu behavior returns to normal.
