I just left 5 star review for this plugin because
WOW.
Now a question for each star:
- I made sure the Tooltips block was enabled in the settings, but when I try to search for it in the block editor, it wouldn’t show up no matter what I tried. The closest thing that I could find was the Hotspots block, and I thought maybe it just had a different name in the editor. But to test, I disabled the Tooltips block in settings, but the Hotspots block was still there. So I can’t figure out how to use the Tooltips block.
- I would love a block that displays information from the user profile on the front end, such as the user’s first name.
- Is there full documentation for this somewhere? Or is it on the way? The description lists all the Blocks, and most are self explanatory (nice). But still, docs would be nice.
- I have to ask… what’s the long game here? I’m a little bit in disbelief that this is so huge, so simple to use, so beautiful, and so free. It took me awhile to trust it. Did I scan it after installing? Yes. 🙂 All good so far! It’s amazing. But I can’t help feeling like it’s too good to be true. Is there another shoe that will drop at some point? Is this plugin with its current features going to remain free? I would hate to build my site with this and then discover one day that it’s suddenly very expensive to continue using.

Hi there, and thank you so much for the kind review — that really means a lot!
1) Tooltip block
Tooltip and Hotspot Image are two different blocks:- Tooltip — inline text with a hover popup (definitions, abbreviations, short explanations).
- Hotspot Image — an image with clickable/hover pins (it also mentions “tooltip” in search keywords, which is why it shows up first).
So disabling Tooltip won’t hide Hotspot Image — that’s expected.
To find Tooltip:
- Make sure it’s enabled in Blockenberg → Block Manager
- In the editor, search for
Tooltip(singular) - Or browse Content & Typography (Blockenberg)
If it still doesn’t appear, try a hard refresh of the editor (or log out/in). Happy to dig further if it still doesn’t show after that.
2) User profile / first name
Great idea. Right now the plugin have author-focused blocks (like Author Profile / Author Box) for post authors, but not a block that outputs the logged-in user’s first name / profile fields on the front end. I’ve noted this as a feature request.3) Documentation
There isn’t a full docs site yet. The block list in the plugin description/readme is the main reference for now, and most blocks are meant to be usable without a manual. Better documentation is on my radar.4) Long-term / free
Totally fair question. Blockenberg is free and GPL, and the current feature set is intended to stay available for free. I’m not planning a sudden “paywall” that locks existing blocks behind a pricey license. If I ever add a commercial tier later, it would be for extras — not to take away what people already rely on. Appreciate the trust (and the security scan 😄).5) Support
