• Thanks for the many years of great service (and yes, we have donated) but it’s time for us to move on.

We’ve dealt with many functionality breaking internal changes (even to documented functionality) over time but this recent forced switch to google recaptcha v3 is the final straw. v3 slows page loads, has nasty privacy implications for the user and even with all that, it doesn’t work nearly as well at stopping spam! Also spews that ugly recaptcha banner on every page which will sometimes hide important UI elements. We don’t have the time or budget to keep going back and retrofitting sites after surprise changes.

The developer is great at building a plugin that is solid at any given point in time but terrible at providing reliable hooks that developers can depend on. If they’re not going to be supported, then simply don’t provide them! If you just need a basic contact form and are cool with the downsides of recaptcha v3 then cf7 is fine, otherwise look elsewhere.
