tittle for category page

    previously i want my category page to have a tittle .. i have recently used “if( is_archive() ) the_archive_title( ‘<h1 class=”page-title”>’, ‘</h1>’ );” in index.php nd now i m getting tittle as “Category: EXAMPLE” nd i dont want this category text writtern in it also i want to increase the spacing between that tittle and post.. please help
