    Just want to let you know that my hoster (Alfahosting GmbH) forbid me to use your plugin. They deactivated my account after seeing an unusual amount of IO from one of my sites. Turns out BackWPup’s backup creation took forever (not *really* forever, just roughly 67 hours).

    I use BackWPup on other wordpress installations on the very same hoster account (don’t tell them) without any issue. I don’t know what to do from here except not using the plugin anymore, which would be a shame. I’d be happy to help debugging the issue as long as I’m not at risk of complete losing my account due to causing the same massive IO again.

    Oh, sorry to hear that.
    About your problem, 67 hours is soooo long for the backup job!
    Could you please check if you included other backup plugins folder like Updraft, Duplicator… to backup file list? ( You can check that in your job setting, Files tab ).
    On another site using BackWPUp, did you got this problem?

    No other backup plugins installed, since backwpup always did the trick for me.
    Worked the days before and I didn’t change anything.
    Problem did not occur on any other sites.

    hmm, try to reduce server load to medium level, that will lower the IO 🙂
    You can just go to BackWPUp -> Settings -> Job tab -> Reduce server load and choose medium, after that, set maximum execution time to about 25 secs ( BackWPup > Settings > Jobs-> set 25 to secs )
    After that, try again.
