Tidying up old files

    In the process of backing up a site via ftp, I have noticed various folders that I think can probably be deleted without consequence.
    Can anyone confirm my thoughts on the following please, and whether they can safely be deleted (assuming a full backup is completed first)?

    public_html\revamp\wp-content\backupwordpress-eed5e74967-backups\

    This looks to have been created by a backuo plugin no longer installed and contains various .zip files, which are presumably old backups.

    public_html\revamp\wp-content\plugins\facebook-auto-publish

    Again this looks like a plugin that is no longer installed, but the folder and it’s content still exist.

    public_html\revamp\wp-content\themes\

    There is only one theme visible via the site’s WP dashboard, but there appear to be several folders for previously used themes in this folder.

    public_html\revamp\revamp\

    Although I’ve not been through this folder in detail, it appears to contain a copy of the other folders in …

    public_html\revamp\

    I am assuming this is some other form of old backup.

    Sounds like you could delete these folders. However, first create a complete backup of your site. then, instead of deleting those folders, move the out of /public_html.

    That way, if something breaks, you can easily move them back.

    Hey there –

    Any zip files here can be safely deleted:

    >public_html\revamp\wp-content\backupwordpress-eed5e74967-backups\

    They are from the BackUpWordPress plugin and if you don’t have it installed then removing that entire directory won’t hurt anything.

    @pxforti says exactly what I would say about the other items. They sound like they can be safely removed, but if you do so the way they suggest you can easily move them back if anything breaks 😉
