Thumbnails do not automatically crop anymore

Since a while now it seems that now images that are upload have stretched Thumbnails.
I set a fixed size for all thumbnails 200*150 and before new images were cropped properly into that dimension. Now they just stretch into that dimension no mater if i set “Set fix dimension?” in Other Options -> Thumbnail Options to Yes or No. Also tried to re-create thumbnails on those newly added pictures, will not crop those either.Does anyone know if this exists since a certain update or is something else wrong?
