Thumbnails Broken Network Wide

I have a lot of different htaccess files in my cpanel public_html folder

.htaccess-bak , .htaccess-old-21-6-15 , .htaccess.bk , .htaccessz , .htaccess~ , .htaccesx~ , .htaccesy~

from restoration work that my web hosting support team has done in the past

Which one of these is running my website?

Also when I upload an image it appears as being broken immediately
