I have run into a handful of issues with Thumbnail Creation and Gallery management. The most severe are happening with Thumbnails.

Whenever I try to create a new gallery with many images it is just uploading and creating the gallery with the first image. So I have to then manually upload the images via FTP to the folder created for the gallery.

Then I go in and try to enter the gallery to “scan folder for new images”. It then finds the images and adds them. But when the window pops up to create thumbnails for them it errors out. Each one produces “An unexpected error has occurred.”

If I try to go back into the gallery and select all of the checkboxes, and select all of the images without thumbnails, then use the “recreate thumbnails” option the website suddenly goes into a redirect loop. For some reason it causes a redirect loop to the base domain, not the nextgen gallery page I am on.

If I try to select the edit thumbnail button it also goes into this redirect loop to the base domain. Or just pulls up a blank window where the Thumbnail editing should occur.

Sometimes if I try to edit the gallery it goes into the redirect loop before I even try to update a thumbnail.

This only happens on these sections of the admin section in Nextgen. The redirect issue does not happen anywhere else.

I have removed and deleted all cache plugins and files thinking it might be one of those. This did not change anything.

I am using the Customizr Theme. Changing to 2015 does not fix issue.

I think it may be crashing the mySQL server. I was able to get the following from the error log.

    Error Log Output

[13-Jun-2015 22:53:39 UTC] PHP Warning: require_once(/home/campoutcolorado/public_html/wp-content/plugins/nextgen-gallery/products/photocrati_nextgen/modules/ngglegacy/lib/core.php): failed to open stream: No such file or directory in /home/campoutcolorado/public_html/wp-content/plugins/nextgen-gallery/products/photocrati_nextgen/modules/ngglegacy/nggallery.php on line 201

The last error posted 20 times, 1 for each thumbnail it was supposed to create.

If anyone can suggest anything to correct this I would really appreciate it. I am basically stuck and unable to work on my site since I can not add pictures with thumbnails.

Thank you for all of the help.

A little more information. This morning I am trying different ways to add a gallery that will allow me to get these in here.

If I go into the gallery it did not add right it crashes the mySQL server.

It does not crash the mysql server going into galleries that have been created successfully. Even when those other galleries have more pictures in them.

I deleted the “bad gallery” and tried to add it again. Using the button in galleries to “add new gallery”. This created the gallery without issue. I then added a single image through the select option and NOT the drag and drop option, which I was using before. It did add the image with the thumbnail successfully. However, when I went to try to check it by clicking on “manage galleries” I was once again thrown into a redirect loop sending me to my base domain. This did not crash the mySQL server. I cleared cookies from the last hour in Chrome. Then manually opened another tab to the admin section and it worked again. If I try to refresh or reload the redirect it sticks in the loop and cookies have to be cleared again.

I navigated to the new gallery with 1 image. I tried to add two images through the select box and not the drop down. That seemed to complete OK. When I tried to go back to “manage galleries” I was thrown into a redirect loop again.

After clearing it I was able to go into the gallery. It only added 1 of the two pictures I selected.

Also I just noticed that even though I deleted the old galleries that the folders for the old directories were not deleted. This caused mySQL to throw duplicate column name errors.

I deleted the gallery again as well as the extra folders it left behind.

I tried using “import folder” for the gallery creation this time. That seemed to function fine. When I clicked “manage galleries” I went back into the redirect loop again. MySQL did not crash. The good news is that once I cleared cookies > went to wp-admin > manage galleries the images were imported and they all had thumbnails created.

I hope these help figure out what is happening. This is getting to be really painful to work with. Here are the errors it created while experimenting with this.

@iillc – I would recommend starting with deactivating, deleting and re-installing, reactivating NextGEN Gallery … I would also suggest doing this with no other plugins activated and possible with a default WordPress Twenty series theme as well.

I really cannot say, at the moment, what might have thrown the database error message … that is one I have not seen happen before.

I tried deactivating, deleting, and reinstalling and it made no changes to the behavior.

    Investigating further.

@iillc – If you are still not able to find the cause/conflict here … please send us a Bug Report (http://nextgen-gallery.com/report-bug/ … please reference this topic) so we can get a better look under the page at your site.

We may need temporary log in (and FTP) credentials for your WordPress installation, please consider those for your Bug Report, too.

    Thanks!
