theme's new version not working while old is working

    I have two websites using this theme:

    the one using the 1.0.4 is here

    the one using the latest(1.0.6) is here

    Like the old one, I want to disable unnecessary blocks in the frontpage, although I set all blocks (except Featured Block Category (Section Beside Slider )) to: No of post to display: 0
    as you can see from the live site: all the blocks are still displaying the default images

    Can anyone tell me where to fix it? Thank you very much.
