    I’m not exactly sure how you would come to have this situation in the first place. Perhaps you could provide a link to your website so I can see what you are speaking of.

    It appears to me that you need to set what “page” you want as your front page under settings > reading.

    Your current homepage is the common and correct blog listing index. You simply need to override it under the menu I stated above.

    I don’t think I was clear. I don’t want a “static page”
    I just want the front page to look like your example with a larger headline posting box across the top, followed by two columns of postings.

    I see. That occurs by making a post “sticky” which forces it to the top regardless of new content. When looking at a list of all your posts in the admin click quick edit and check the box for “make sticky”.
