Text in sidebar widgets disappearing

I can’t work out what’s happening.
In every text field widget in the sidebar, the text disappears.
For email text field – the text appears in red and then disappears after writing an @ symbol.
In the search field the type is there but reversed, in white against a white background so it is invisible.
I have the OceansWP theme and have designated the type colour as black to no avail.
