Testing Google Pay

    I’ve got the plugin installed on a staging site, connected to our Stripe account, and in test mode. It works fine with credit cards using Stripe’s test card numbers. Now, I’d like to collect the screen shots to get a merchant ID from Google to enable Google Pay in live mode.

    What I’m wondering is if I need to add a Stripe test credit card to a Google account in order to complete the transaction and test Google Pay?

    Hi @linux4me2,

    Thanks for contacting us. With GPay in test mode you can use a real card number and it will simulate a charge.

    If you don’t want to use a real card then you can request access to the GPay test suite group which has a series of test cards you can use.

    For anyone else who wants to test Google Pay without using a real card number:

    1. log into a Google Account
    2. visit the link to the Google Pay API Test Cards Group
    3. click the link to join the Group
    4. browse to your WP site and complete an order as a customer with Google Pay

    While you’re logged in to your Google Account, your membership in the Google Pay API Test Cards Group will populate Google Pay with your email address, a test credit card number, and an address, allowing you to pay for the test order without filling anything out.

    You’re welcome! There is one thing I would add to #3 if you sticky it:

    You may need to wait a few seconds for joining to process; once it’s done, you’ll see a welcome message and a link to the Google Pay API Test Cards Demo Page.
