templates for starting blog?

hello

I am just starting out and wanting to customise this great template. I am looking at your demo — http://www.lyrathemes.com/preview/?theme=kale and it has a number of the elements that got me to download this in the first place — the side bar content, the simple lay out of the featured and recents posts, newsletter signup and contact form etc.

However I can’t find a way to do this easily on your template or when I am looking through the support forum. Is there a place where there is a tutorial for newbies like me so that I can start customising this?
