Your stylesheet is instructing your pre-formatted areas to be hidden, you can override it like so:

.entry-content pre, .comment-content pre { display: block; }

I would advise to implement all code changes using a Child Theme, this ensures your custom code remains should you update the theme in the future, or you can make use of a Custom CSS plugin.
