Support » Fixing WordPress » Take 2 (i.e. fun with tables)

  • I posted a thread the other day trying to figure out how to integrate wordpress into a php site. Well, I got the integration part down. But now I’m stumped as to how get the positioning where it’s supposed to be. My site is

    http://www.ktriton.com

    Notice how the two boxes are misproportioned. I can’t figure out how to fix that. I scoured my code for any extra or misproportioned td and tr tags, but found nothing wrong.

    Here’s the code that I currently have for the whole page in case anybody has the patience to scour it 🙂 (thanks if you do, by the way).

    [code]

  • well my first look at this i noticed you have some bad doubled up tags.

    <HTML>
    <HEAD>
    <TITLE>indexlayout</TITLE>
    <META HTTP-EQUIV="Content-Type" CONTENT="text/html; charset=iso-8859-1">
    </HEAD>
    <BODY BGCOLOR=#FFFFFF LEFTMARGIN=0 TOPMARGIN=0 MARGINWIDTH=0 MARGINHEIGHT=0>
    <!-- ImageReady Slices (indexlayout.psd) -->
    <TABLE WIDTH=800 BORDER=0 CELLPADDING=0 CELLSPACING=0>
    <!--DWLayoutTable-->
    <TR>
    <TD height="123" COLSPAN=6> <IMG SRC="images/images/indexlayout_01.gif" WIDTH=800 HEIGHT=123 ALT=""></TD>
    </TR>
    <TR>
    <TD height="408" colspan="2" valign="top"> <IMG SRC="images/images/indexlayout_02.gif" WIDTH=119 HEIGHT=408 ALT=""></TD>
    <td width="341" valign="top">

    that has a html, body, title, etc.. tag thats already in the index.php that comes with wordpress.

    <?php
    /* Don't remove this line. */
    require('./news/wp-blog-header.php');
    ?>
    <!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Transitional//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-transitional.dtd"><html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml"> <head profile="http://gmpg.org/xfn/1">
    <title>
    <?php bloginfo('name'); ?>
    <?php wp_title(); ?>
    </title> <meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=<?php bloginfo('charset'); ?>" />
    <meta name="generator" content="WordPress <?php bloginfo('version'); ?>" />

    this is what wordpress puts in for your head, html, body… etc
    you should put your images in to the body tag right around here..

    <link rel="alternate" type="application/atom+xml" title="Atom 0.3" href="<?php bloginfo('atom_url'); ?>" />
    <link rel="pingback" href="<?php bloginfo('pingback_url'); ?>" />
    <?php wp_get_archives('type=monthly&format=link'); ?>
    <?php //comments_popup_script(); // off by default ?>
    <?php wp_head(); ?></head>
    <body> <div id="content">
    <?php if ($posts) : foreach ($posts as $post) : start_wp(); ?>
    <?php the_date('','<h2>','</h2>'); ?>
    <div class="post">
    <h3 class="storytitle" id="post-<?php the_ID(); ?>">" rel="bookmark" title="Permanent Link: <?php the_title(); ?>">
    <?php the_title(); ?>
    </h3>

    You shoudl take the parts you need, such as your images/tables. and put it after that body tag….
    hope that work.. i belive that would cause the wierd look of your site.

    Oooh, I see.

    I’m going to start fixing it now. Cross your fingers!

    Sweet! That was the problem! Thanks a lot, Chadwick!

    No problem, glad i could help.
