Ran a really long time, claimed “Data Transfer Complete!” with no errors or concerns.

But the new site ONLY had plugins.
No users, posts, pages, no theme, not even its name.

    Hello, @gulltop
The plugin may not be functioning as intended due to specific characteristics of the remote hosting environment. This can happen for a variety of reasons, including restrictive server configurations, custom file structures, security or caching plugins, file permission restrictions, or other hosting-specific limitations that can interfere with the migration process.

Although the plugin reported that the transfer was completed successfully, issues like this can occur if the database was not exported or imported correctly, the migration archive was incomplete or became corrupted during the transfer, server resource limits interrupted the process without generating a visible error, or there was a compatibility issue between the source and destination hosting environments.

I recommend performing a manual migration by following the instructions in our knowledge base:

    https://www.siteground.com/kb/how_to_transfer_my_wordpress_from_one_host_to_another/

Alternatively, you can submit a Website Transfer request through your SiteGround User Area, and our team will carry out the migration for you to help ensure that all site files and the database are transferred correctly.

    Best Regards,
    Stefan Stefanov

Indeed, in the absence of standard ACID database handling, error checking or handling, it is a necessity to work around the plugin’s silent failures.

While the plugin is designed to handle standard migrations smoothly, complex database environments or server timeouts can sometimes cause it to lose connection to the database mid-transfer, leading to the missing data you experienced.

To help you get this resolved properly, please log into your SiteGround Client Area and contact our support team directly so we can investigate the issue further and assist you.

    Hi Daniela.
As I responded to Stefan, yes there are ways to work around the plugin’s design and handling problems, and I will obviously need to do that.

But this is not a SiteGround support forum.

It’s a review forum for the PLUGIN, which concludes its silent failures with “Rate the SiteGround Migrator / That went smoothly, right? / Help us help other people by rating this plugin on WP.org!

Please let me do that without changing the subject.
