TablePress responsive issue

Hi, I have been using the awesome TablePress plugin by Tobias and have been trying to make some of my tables work better on smaller (mobile) screens.

I tried the extension (http://tablepress.org/extensions/) but the formatting of some tables looked very untidy.

So then I tried simply making the table horizontally scrolling (using plugin function). The scrolling function works but a visitor to the table now receives the following error message:
Datatables warning: table id xx requested unknown parameter ‘1’ for row 0.
I read the link attached to this message but do not know how to resolve.

Any help appreciated!
