• Hey everyone;

    I am a fairly new-to-the-business WP host for small local companies, and I have a quick question.

    Is it possible to have a ‘server’ plugin on my client portal (a private wordpress instance) which allows my clients to reset their passwords from the portal if they lose access to their site? Preferably by interacting with a separate ‘client’ plugin on that site that way I don’t have to update multiple credentials any time a database is created or has it’s password changed.

    Any suggestions you have would be great. Thanks!

    I’m not fully understanding your intent. WP passwords should not be the same as those for access to the hosting account, nor for the DB. Users can reset their WP password through the wp-login.php?action=lostpassword form.

    It’s also possible to change WP passwords through a command line interface or the REST API if the command/request has been properly authenticated. But having users go through the lost password form is best because they can choose their own password without some intermediary knowing the plaintext.
