Swap out Superfish (dropdown) for another (jquery) navigation plugin?

Just started digging into Hybrid and building a child theme (with Skeleton). I hate the navigation though. I’d like to swap out the dropdown nav for a two-tiered horizontal menu. I have the required plugin files for the new nav in my child theme’s js folder. I suppose I need to register them somewhere. What do I need to copy over from the Hybrid theme and adjust to make it work?
