super-cache warning messages affecting website
-
Looking for help. Not sure what happened but updated a post and now there is a “black space” on the top of our website. Hidden under this space are 4 warning messages that include “wp-content\plugins\wp-super-cache\wp-cache.php.” I have never dealt with super cache. This error message also appears on my dashboard. Would anyone know how to solve? The website is http://www.thecomedybook.com to view what is going on at the top of all pages. Thanks in advance for any help.

I have a feeling our problem is with WP Super Cache plugin – that we did not install. It was done automatically. The plugin will not allow us to deactivate it – messages says it is being “used” and can’t be deactivated. Website is http://www.thecomedybook.com. Thanks for any help!
Follow this for the complete uninstall procedure: https://wordpress.org/plugins/wp-super-cache/other_notes/
Thanks James – But hate to say that didn’t work. It won’t allow me to deactivate the Super Cache plugin, so can’t even do Step 2. When I try, these are the warning messages (and I apologize for it being so long!)…

Ok, in that case, follow https://wordpress.org/plugins/wp-super-cache/other_notes/ but skip step 2.
Hi James – I really appreciate your help. But afraid that’s a little too complicated for me. I can’t find define( ‘WP_CACHE’, true ); anywhere in the code (long enough to be a novel!). I’m pretty much a novice at this and it’s not making much sense. Can you or anyone recommend a service to help me get rid of WP Super Cache and not allow it to download again without permission? Thanks for all your help.
It will be in your wp-config.php file. If it’s not there, skip that step too.
Basically, it sounds like WP Super Cache was not installed properly, so just visit each step, make sure it’s done, and you’ll remove all traces of it properly.
Hi James – Thank you for your help, but I’m having no luck at all with editing or deleting WP Super Cache. Again, it was added automatically. I don’t want it, but would you suggest installing it again to see if it kicks out the bugs? http://www.thecomedybook.com. Thanks!!!
Sure, that might work.
If not, I recommend asking at https://wordpress.org/support/plugin/wp-super-cache#postform so the plugin’s developers and support community can help you with this.
Thanks again. I just tried installing, but not allowed – message says I already current version. I’ll try the developer site you suggested. Wish me luck! HA! And seriously, thanks for taking time to work with me on this.
