Suggestion Slow Post/Page Update
-
I noticed issues on 2 of our WordPress sites where creating or updating a post or page took about ~6 seconds on one site and about ~12 seconds on the other site, as opposed to the normal 1-2 second range. While troubleshooting I noticed this even happened when no changes were made, and the page/Post was updated.
The fix (on v4.6.1) was WP-Optimize > Cache > Purge the cache > Uncheck “Automatically preload content after it is purged“. This feature not only [reloads a page/post when the Cache is purged, but also when one is updated (“Automatically preload pages when a post or page … [is updated].”)
Some suggestions to make this smoother if you find anyone else is running into the same issue:
Split the checkbox Automatically preload content after it is purged into 2 checkboxes:
IDEA 1
– Automatically preload content after it is purged
– Automatically preload content after it is updated
IDEA 2
Add a button in the Page/Post editor sidebar “Preload Content After Update”.
IDEA 3
Add a popup when a post/page is updated, “Please wait a moment while WP-Optimize preloads your new content”.
