So, I was warned by some folks about an increase in attacks, so I’ve installed this and just started using it. It’s working pretty well so far, and is already blocking a lot of these bots from signing in.

When I look at these stats though, I notice some apparent trends. Namely, these are almost all coming from countries I don’t live in.

My first thought is to simply block login attempts from outside the US. Boom, problem solved.
I know you want to not restrict access by area because users may travel, and they would easily forget that they need to change their access settings before they leave. I get that.
But there could still be options that are refined for particular areas; making access more strict according to where one is trying to log in from.

And seriously, I don’t mind jumping through extra hoops IF I am outside my area. I could… I don’t know… be required to authenticate my device by downloading special software and then get a special code sent to my email or my phone. Or maybe just require 24 before I can even try to login. I don’t particularly care, but it seems to me like this could make things a lot simpler.

Glad to hear it’s working for you. I tend to leave all countries able to access my site and rely on attackers getting throttled or locked out by Wordfence – particularly the Wordfence security network feature.

    Regards,

    Mark.
