Suburbia theme – left-hand column

I’m wanting to change my layout and add a menu on the left-hand side underneath ‘about me’ (where there is a big gap!)

I know other users have had the same problem and have managed to solve it using some coding.

But here’s the thing, I’m not that great at fiddling with coding so some help (in simple language!) would be much appreciated.

I’d like to add another 2/3 menus underneath. I’ve tried doing it using appearance –> menu and then adding them to the widgets but they don’t show up.

I’m sure it’s straight forward for some clever wordpresser, but spare a thought for us less-informed bloggers!

Any help would be great, 🙂
