We discovered that an old post (posted on July 2014) just got sent to all of the subscribers. I thought initially it’s because I edited the post, so I tried it on another post, but this one didn’t get sent out.

I’m not sure what’s happening or how to fix this. If anybody knows how to fix or what had happened, I’ll be extremely grateful!

Editing published posts shouldn’t trigger a new notification. Could you walk me through the steps you followed to edit that post, so I can try to reproduce the issue?

    Thanks!

Sure, so basically here’s what I did:

    1. Changed the blog URL. So it’s like from example.com/the-old-blog-name to example.com/the-new-blog-name. (I forgot to mention this in my post earlier, my bad)
    2. Noticed an image link is broken due to the URL change
    3. Fix the image and edited the post
    4. Few minutes later me and some other colleagues who are subscribed to the blog received the “new post notification” even though it’s actually an old post :/

Did you have to transfer your Jetpack followers from one site to the other, or did you make the address change via your dashboard and your Jetpack settings were automatically updated?

    3. Fix the image and edited the post

Could you let me know how you did that? Did you use a third-party editor or the editor in your dashboard? Did you go in the editor or use the Quick Edit options?

    Thanks!

    Hi,

I changed the URL straight from the dashboard. Afterwards, I deactivate and -reactivate as well as re-connect the jetpack account to my wordpress.com account.

As for the imaged, I just simply go to the post, switch to the text editor mode and manually fix the html link to the image!

Another thing, it seems like I lost the subscribers too after deactivating and re-activating jetpack account! Is there a way to recover them?

The jetpack bblog ID is 83043647, if it’s any help

That’s most likely what caused the issue.

I fixed the issue, and you can get your stats and subscribers back by going to the Jetpack menu in your dashboard, and disconnecting your site from WordPress.com, then reconnecting.

If you experience more subscriptions issues in the future, let me know!

Thanks a lot! But I have another problem here. During the time when the subscribers are “lost”, we have posted several updates and these updates are not sent to the subscribers. Is there something that we can do to somehow re-send this updates now that we got the subscribers back?

    Again, thanks a lot!

I’m afraid not. Jetpack Subscriptions are only sent for newly published posts, so you won’t be able to send updates for posts that are already published, unless you delete those posts and publish them again.
