Subscribers getting "incorrect" error messages

I searched the forum, and I do see a few mentions of an issue that is similar to this one, but I dont’ think the same.
If someone subscribes as Joe@mail.com and then later on tries to unsubscribe as joe@mail.com (with a small j instead of a capital J), he will get an error message that tells him the address is not on the mailing list.
I’m not sure about Internet standards, etc, but if we focus on the subscriber, this error message behavior is a ‘mistake’. To him/her, Joe@mail.com = joe@mail.com.
When the next release of subscribe2 comes out, it would be nice to see this issue addressed.
