Submit for review – posts disappear

I have a user role, ‘Writer’, which can only submit posts for review so an editor or administrator can edit it. However, when I tested it and clicked the Submit for Review button it disappeared from the Posts list of the Writer user. When I switched to my administrator account it showed up. I tried to change the status from Pending Review to Draft, but it still doesn’t show up on the Writer account.

I changed the user permissions so the Writer can edit published posts, but that didn’t fix it either.

Could someone please help me with this? Thank you!
