• Hi,

I have a form that worked great until i applied the recent fix for issues surrounding the Constant Contact plug-in Connect/Disconnect issue.

I verified that I am using Version 2.21.0. In order to get the plug-in connected I deactivated the plug in and re-activated. Everything says “Connected” in GREEN now.

Now, the form works only when the “add me to your list” checkbox IS NOT CLICKED.

If that button is checked the forms does nothing.

If you do a test please mark as “Test”.

    Thoughts?

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

Are you referring to the Yes, I would like to receive emails from United Macedonian Diaspora. (You can unsubscribe anytime) checkbox on the frontend?

Nothing regarding opt-in checks/confirmations should have changed with the latest few releases.

    OK, well something is fishy.

When I subit the form with the “Yes, I would like to receive emails…” button checked and the comments field EMPTY the email sends.

When i send with the add to list checked and the field contains text it WILL NOT SEND.

When the add to list button is unchecked the form sends whether the field is filled or not.

Removing the COMMENT TEXTAREA allows the form to work no matter whether the ADD TO button is checked or not.

All of this is done with the form maker in the Constant Contact plug in.

I fave deleted and reentered the Comment field. No change to behaviour.

I also disabled Google Captcha while testing.

I have substantially edited this post.

    Thoughts?

Submitted as “Constant Contact Forum Support”. Gave the success messaging for the form submission. Pending confirmation of list addition.

See your submission in my email. Will check to verify addition to database.

Here’s the debug log with your entry.

Interesting that that showed up in the logs.

    UPDATE

I don’t have the rest of my life to work on this and the plug in has become useless unless this can be figured out. If it’s only me I would love to know.

Here’s what i have done, tested on multiple browsers (Chrome, Edge, Firefox, Safari on OSX 26.2), this is what happens. I created a new form.

When I have a Large Custom Text Field and have enabled “a checkbox so subscribers can opt-in to your email list”:

    1. If there is NOTHING entered in the Large Custom Text Field and I check the box to be added to the Mailing List it works as intended.
    2. If there is ANYTHING entered in the Large Custom Text Field and I check the box to be added to the Mailing List it sits there. No warning and never processes.
    3. If there is ANYTHING or NOTHING entered in the Large Custom Text Field and I DO NOT check the box to be added to the Mailing List it WORKS.

    That’s the whole story.

    Thanks in advance.

The best way to handle this would be to get the form configured to collect what you’re intending, and then that state/version can be troubleshot. We can see how it behaves, etc. Also worth potentially testing with AJAX/”no refresh” toggled off, in case there are javascript issues preventing thing.

The only time a textarea is used is for a custom field storage. For a moment I wondered if it was perhaps one of the spam prevention fields, but that’s not done as a textarea.

    Hi,

The page is currently set up with no Comments box (Large Custom Text Field):

    https://umdiaspora.org/contact/

This is not useful to me because I need the feedback from my user base.

I have tested it with Captcha on and off.

I also have a version that can be made to fail:

Do you have access to your hosting/server error logs? I tested both ajax and no-ajax submissions with the test form, and both gave indication of WP errors.

    Screen Shot

Hosting logs will be where something got listed for this.

What should I be looking for in the error logs?

You generated a far worse error than I have seen.

I should mention that this is a Multi-site installation but my site is the only site on it. I had nothing to do with the set up as it happened years before I arrived…

Most likely any lines starting with “Fatal error” will be the best indicators.

Not one error of that time or any other common or expected errors.

    This is a fun one.
