Subdirectories & Undefined Functions

    Let me start out by saying that my issue is not an installation issue.

    My issue is simply this:

    Currently, I have WordPress installed locally, and the address for my blog is currently:

    http://localhost/wordpress

    I want to know if there is a way for me to type the following and navigate directly to a page:

    http://localhost/wordpress/join

    Do I have to use a permalink, or can I simply create a folder called “join” and put an index.php in it? I tried simply creating a folder, but I don’t even think that going to http://localhost/wordpress/join even goes directly there. Thanks in advance for any advice. I’m so lost!
