If your theme uses the code way to assign pages to Nav you have to assign the top level page as the parent of the pages that will be sub-pages on the list of Pages page in the Dashboard.
If you are using the new WP custom menus, you drag and drop the pages into the menu structure you want by indenting them under the one you want as the parent page.
The actual drop down or pull out styling is done with CSS. It is pretty complicated and you would be best off taking it from a theme that already has the sort of menu you want, where the CSS will all be worked out.
So your saying on a menu I can have it look like a sub-page, anotherwords a parent, then to the side 2 pages under that, just to the side of it? I’ve never seen tht b4 except under pages. I figure there is a way tht can be done. Everything else seems to be able to be done, why not tht. So I have 2 menus up now, but I don’t have the sub-pages there, and that’s what I want. For example. Look at my drop down on pages. I want that on my menus. Can tht be done? If it can’t be done, please tell me & be specific.
I’ve had too many answers that aren’t specific enough.
Ok, I guess I’ll make another post, because I want to get that drop down of pages off the main navigation bar & categories off too.

I know what checking the box “Add new level pages” does. I just checked tht box & when I made a new page it automatically got added to each menu. I had to take this sub-page repairing credit off each menu & I unchecked the box.
I don’t think I’ve seen tht on any menu yet, where it’s set up like a pages menu. I don’t know why, u can’t pick out specific pages & have sub-pages off askew a bit.
For example, you have 4 pages all lined up but the 4th page had 2 sub-pages & those pages are under it off to the side a bit.
That’s what I want on my menus. If u know anyway to do this, I’d gladly donate or be very appreciative.
