stylesheet is missing -from themes

    I have downloaded themes (zen-min, almost-spring, and others) from several sources . They were downloaded completely and they have been ftp-ed into the correct directory in on the server.
    However they do not install correctly into wordpress 1.5.1.3. I do always get the message” stylesheet is missing” and the themes show up in the “broken themes”.
    I have followed the tips given in this forum previously ( re-upload, check directory, logout from wp repeatedly).

    Thus I am totally clueless what to try next. ?

    Once the themes are uploaded, there should be a style.css file at this path:

    /wp-content/themes/<theme-name>/style.css

    I’m having this issue right now with the theme “Benevolence 1.0”.

    I unzipped it and uploaded it just fine. The file path looks as it should, and the style.css file has the appropriate header.

    Still it remains broken.

    First, make sure you don’t have an extra layer of folders

    Bad: wp-content/themes/Benevolence 1.0/Benevolence/style.css

    Good: wp-content/themes/Benevolence/style.css

    Secondly, I seem to recall that spaces in the theme’s folder name may cause issues (I’m willing to be wrong there, but a quick rename would test it)

    There are no extra folders, and no spaces in the name.

    I have completely revamped my old WP 1.5 themes, including Zen Min. You can preview and download the new and improved Zen Min and other free WP themes from our design shop here:
