style.css and theme over-riding lists

I have a theme that is using the list css that overides the normal behaviour…

I want to have a div tag that uses the normal behaviour of lists.

I know how to add a custom div tag id to the style.css
but have not idea how to tell it to use the normal behaviour for the lists…

does anyone know the code for CSS for the normal behaviour of lists?
